Your questions, answered

Absorbency, size, materials, washing: everything you need to know before choosing your period panties.

How many panties are needed for a cycle?

We recommend having at least 2 menstrual panties, ideally 3, to cover your entire cycle.

And for optimal comfort even during sleep, discover our menstrual panties designed for night, made to offer long-lasting leak protection.

If you want to mix things up, don’t forget that the French menstrual panty brand Smoon has put all its expertise into designing a menstrual shorty and a menstrual thong.

So, in addition to being able to vary colors, you can also change lingerie styles during your period — always with ultra-absorbent materials and leak-proof technology.

By the way… have we told you about our menstrual swimsuit ?

What materials make up the Smoon panties?

First of all, know that at Smoon, everything is OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 certified: we therefore certify a product without toxic substances for your health.

Whether your flow is average or you need amenstrual panties for heavy flow, know that for the bottom of our model of period panties, we wanteda material that avoids that unpleasant feeling of humiditywith sanitary napkins.

To make you feel like you're in the open air, we turned to an innovative material that drains liquids into the absorbent layer and dries ultra-quickly, whatever size you choose.

Composition: hydrophilamide, polyamide and elastane.

We have also added an anti-leak absorbent material to our menstrual lingerie which allows fluid retention throughout the day or night.

Material: polyester.

Afterwardsthe membrane is waterproof and breathableto allow the panties to breathe while preventing leaks.

Product composition: polyester and polyurethane.

Finally, the main material is soft and allows it to accompany the movement.

Composition: polyamide and elastane.

The materials used on our period panties are French and Italian. In fact, they are all REACH certified, and no model contains silver nanoparticles: we thus contribute to taking care of your vaginal flora. Smoon therefore offers women quality products at the best price and for all product sizes.

In addition, Smoon now offers other options such as a model of organic cotton menstrual panties, available in several models (normal flows and abundant flows). Available in black or red, it responds to a real demand for well-being. And if our product is not yet made in France, our menstrual panties are truly French, made with the best partners there is! So let yourself be tempted by organic period panties and all their options.

How many tampons or pads for 1 period panty?

Do you currently use protection such as menstrual cups, tampons or sanitary napkins, and you not only want an alternative, but also estimate your budget savings by switching to menstrual panties?

SMOON French menstrual panties, including cotton materials and aspects, can absorb between 15 and 20 ml, or approximately 2 traditional tampons. Economical therefore, but also a real one to fight against the imbalance of the vaginal flora.

With a lifespan ranging from 2 to 5 years depending on the care and maintenance you give it, your purchase is therefore also a real economical choice. Buy from the online store and have it delivered: test the absorption, comfort and aesthetics on a first purchase... we bet you will come back!

What is organic cotton period underwear?

Organic cotton period underwear is reusable underwear with an integrated absorbent zone capable of retaining menstrual blood while offering optimal comfort.

Organic cotton plays a key role in period panties: it is grown without pesticides or irritating substances and helps reduce the risk of allergies or irritation. It is a breathable, soft fabric, ideal for sensitive skin and very pleasant to wear.

The structure of the underwear generally includes:

  • a layer of organic cotton, the one directly in contact with the skin,

  • a second absorbent layer capable of holding menstrual flow,

  • a waterproof yet breathable barrier to prevent leaks,

  • a comfortable outer fabric suited for daily wear.

Organic cotton enhances comfort while ensuring better skin tolerance, making it an ideal option for those wishing to avoid synthetic materials.

Why choose organic cotton period underwear?

Choosing organic cotton period underwear means combining performance and comfort while adopting a more sustainable approach. This type of product offers several benefits:

  • Natural comfort and softness: organic cotton is known for limiting irritation. It respects intimate areas and feels natural, even during heavier-flow days.
  • Effective absorption: organic cotton period underwear is designed to absorb menstrual flow without feeling damp. It is suitable for light, medium, or heavy periods depending on the model. Some cuts can be worn both day and night.
  • A durable and economical alternative: washable period underwear reduces waste from disposable products. They can be reused for several years, making them a long-term, cost-effective investment.
  • Healthy, breathable materials: organic cotton allows better airflow compared to synthetic fibers. It helps limit unwanted odors, supports intimate balance, and enhances freshness throughout the cycle.

Who is organic cotton period underwear for?

Smoon’s organic cotton period underwear is suitable for many different people:

  • those with sensitive skin,

  • those looking for a natural menstrual protection option,

  • people concerned about the environment who want to avoid plastic or chemical-based materials,

  • users adopting a more eco-friendly lifestyle,

  • anyone who prioritizes comfort and reliability.

This type of underwear is also perfectly suited for teenagers, as it offers simplicity, security, and discretion — ideal for supporting them during their first periods.

When should you use organic cotton period underwear?

Our organic cotton period underwear can be worn in many situations:

  • on days when your flow is irregular, to ensure reassurance at all times,

  • at night, for reliable and comfortable protection,
